Why use Netbeans 7.0?

Overview

Netbeans 6.9 has been a very powerful IDE that provides almost all kind of open source web development, but with the all new upcoming Netbeans 7.0, it has outshine most of the features what previous netbeans has been offering.

New features that Netbeans 7.0 has improve on base on my own testing between both Netbeans 6.9 and 7.0 IDE’S. Netbeans 7.0 has been much more faster in terms of executing the IDE at the first start compare to Netbeans 6.9. Netbeans 7.0 also includes better support on java technologies, supporting JDK 7 is a huge plus to what Netbeans 7.0 has to offer.

Although Netbeans 6.9 and Netbeans 7.0 has almost every features that are in common, some things that Netbeans 7.0 has really improve on is the capability to do code completion at a much faster pace then before.  Other then just performance base, Netbeans 7.0 also introduce HTML 5 support on its editor, giving developers to gain access to the latest HTML 5 development on Netbeans platform.

Things that are lacking in Netbeans 7.0

UI

There are lots of features that i felt Netbeans 7.0 can add on. One of them would be a new User Interface that is much more less bloated look alike compared to the other  Netbeans, Netbeans 7.0 should be the next generation of User Interface.

FTP Support

I believe Netbeans 7.0 should enhance its FTP capabilities such as when you delete a file in the project, it should automatically deletes the file at the FTP side. With this there’s no need to do extra maintenance check at the FTP side whether  any files are orphan.

Better PHP Enhancement

Greatly enhancing on the refactoring tool for PHP would be a big plus usage for Netbeans 7.0, there are so many PHP developers out there this i believe greater support for PHP will just attract more new users.

Debugging Management

It would be nice if there is an easy to install debuggers for each languages, with this there’s no need to use external debuggers and configuration to be done.

CMS Support

Allowing joomla, drupal and other popular CMS to be easily developed in Netbeans would be a greater plus!
