Digital Cameras, Semipro Cameras, DSLR Cameras.

Hi all.

Today, I’m going to post about cameras. Oh well, the different types of cameras out in the market.

Well, I have been in the photography one year ago. Why do I even went into photography? Basically, it is a piece of art and it really gives me a different perspectives on different objects.

Before you ever get a camera, please do note on your needs and not just straight plunge into purchasing a camera. To me a camera or technology gadgets, the need of getting one is to satisfy your needs. You wouldn’t want something that does not suit your needs, right?

I’m going to break in different parts on different types of cameras available in the market.

Digital Cameras

Well, most of us likes compact cameras to bring along with us while we shopping or even travel. If you aren’t a person who is into photography, perhaps you would like to get a digital camera to play around since you do not need to know photo settings. Most cameras do come with photo settings. For example, Nikon compact cameras have scene mode. You can choose the type of photo shoot you are taking based on the scene mode. For example, you are taking a group photo, you may want to choose to have face detection cameras. Majority of the compact cameras do have digital zoom of about 3x to 5x. That would preferably the best zoom for digital cameras.

Who is it for?

If you aren’t particular in photo settings, digital cameras are a better option for you since it may be a hassle to always play with the photo settings but rather have a camera that automatically setup for you.

Budget wise, if you do not want a expensive camera due to your budget, then digital camera is a option for you.

Advantages

Firstly, it is compact, light and you can bring it anywhere you want.

Secondly, need not to care about the photo settings.

Disadvantage

If you are particular about the settings and colours, maybe digital camera is not a option for you.

Semipro Cameras

Semipro cameras also known as prosumer cameras. They are a higher version of digital cameras though it is less better than Digital Single Reflex (DSLR) Cameras. Personally, I own a semipro camera which is Nikon Coolpix P80. I went into a semipro camera because I would like to learn photography but at the same time, my budget was not very high. Due to some contact, I was able to get a camera at a special price. Since I would like to be in photography interest, I bought a semipro camera rather than a digital camera because I cannot play around with the manual settings.

Semipro cameras provide scene modes, manual mode, aperture-priority mode, sports mode and shutter speed mode. Most of the time, my photos are in manual mode because I can adjust the settings based on my ISO speed, lightings and environment.

Who is it for?

A beginner in photography, someone who’s budget who cannot purchase DSLR but want to have a DSLR feel.

If ever zoom is a problem for you, get a semipro camera because they have a better zoom from 10x to 24x. Lately, Nikon released Nikon Coolpix P90 which has 24x zoom.

Advantage

Able to control the photo settings.

Better zoom.

A beginner for all.

Disadvantage

It may be bulky since for example, Canon semipro camera use double AA batteries. But mine was not problem since it does not use double AA batteries.

DSLR Cameras

Alright, here comes the most professional cameras of all.

DSLR stands for Digital Single Lens Reflex because of the lens used. Well, dslr cameras need to be maintained in terms of purchasing the lens, cleanup. And it is the most expensive of all. It provides a greater way to control your photos with the settings control.

Advantage

You have the control over the photos in terms of settings, shutter speed, aperture and other photo effects.

A better choice to enter into photography.

Disadvantage

Very bulky.

Expensive and moreover, you need to purchase the lens to be attached to the body for different types of photo shoot to have a better photo.

After knowing what you want whether it is digital camera, semipro camera or a dslr camera, next is to decide on your budget, specifications. But of cause, do not forget to test the cameras out in the showrooms and have a feel of the camera if suits your photo taking style. :)

Hi, i must say fantastic blog you have, i stumbled across it in AOL. I bought myself the lumix tz7 digital camera. Its just a pleasure to use.

  3. Digital cameras put power in the photographers’ arms for full creative control over their pictures with interchangeable lenses. After all, there are automatic options for these consumers who are usually not as digital camera savvy.
